Choices made to get rid of the pain,
May come at a cost that’s hard to explain.
The quick fix, the easy way out,
May lead to regret, and eternal doubt.
The bottle, the needle, the pill,
May offer escape, but never fulfill.
A temporary relief, a fleeting high,
Leads to addiction, and a never-ending lie.
The cost of relief, often too steep,
Leaves one trapped in a cycle, unable to leap.
To a life that’s free, that’s pure and whole,
A life that’s worth living, with a fulfilling role.
So choose wisely, and think it through,
The cost of relief, may not be worth the view.
The pain may linger, but it can be overcome,
With strength and courage, a new life can be won.
