The Fortress of Bones: A Poem of Survival and Forlornness

You were merely a cardiac organ, that endured long enough, to necessitate the construction of a barrier.

You were a corporeal entity that encountered enough, to have to don armament.

You were a spiritual essence, that felt forlorn enough, to stray a course abandoned by the others.

You were a cherished offspring that matured enough to unlearn how to cherish.

That is why this fortress of osseous matter was conceived,

So that it can accommodate a survivor like you within.
