Painful bits of our past sneak up on us
Breaking open old wounds with a sudden rush
Threatening the foundations we have built
Reopening the scars we thought were filled
Fresh blood spills over the old stains
Painting our present with new pastel pains
Forcing us to look back to the past
Down the rabbit hole, we go too fast
We wish we didn’t know this path so well
But we must learn from our past to break the spell
To feed the lessons back to prescience
And move forward with newfound resilience
