You counselled me, when the days are strenuous and grim, to reminisce when the days luminous and gentle.
But, how do you expect me to be appeased,
When these dismal and rigorous days make me doubt the authenticity of those guileless, euphoric days?

My Mind Loses to Self-Pity
My Mind Loses to Self-Pity
My mind loses to self-pity, with each passing day,
A world of darkness, that’s hard to allay,
The thoughts, they spiral, with a vicious intent,
A world of depression, that’s hard to prevent. The tears, they flow, with a heart so heavy,
A world of emotion, that’s hard to levy,
The memories, they haunt, of a happier time,
A world of contrast, that’s hard to align. But even in the darkness, there’s a glimmer of light,
A reminder of hope, that’s forever in sight.

Shadows and Sunbeams
Shadows and Sunbeams
Shadows and sunbeams dance their play
One will darken, one will light the way
Together they create a world of contrast
One that is both eerie and vastBut when the sun sets and the shadows are gone
The world turns dim and the light is none
Yet even then, we know the sun will rise
And the dance between shadow and light will materialize

How to Compare Love
How to Compare Love
Love is an experience that can be difficult to put into words. It’s a subjective feeling that is different for everyone. Love has been a common topic throughout history, and poets have tried to capture its essence in their work. In this poem, I attempt to compare love to the things around us that we can see and touch.
Love can be compared to a flower,
That blooms and dances in the sun,
It’s fragile yet resilient,
And when nurtured, it blossoms and is fun.
Love can also be compared to a flame,
That burns and lights up every space,
It can warm and comfort us,
And help us find our place.
Love is like a winged bird,
That soars and flies without restraint,
It freely comes and goes,
And leaves its mark without complaint.
Love may take on many forms,
Like a painting with countless hues,
It can be intense or subtle,
But it always shines through.
So, how does one compare love?
It’s like trying to catch a shooting star,
Love is a unique experience,
That is beautiful just as you are.

The Contrast of Life
Life is a contrast, a balance of light and dark,
A mix of joy and sorrow, a journey that leaves its mark.
A tapestry woven with threads of every hue,
A masterpiece that’s rich, a story that’s true.In the contrast of life, we find the beauty,
In the lows and the highs, we find the duty.
To embrace the moments, the ones that make us whole,
To cherish the memories, the ones that heal the soul. For in the contrast of life, we find the meaning,
To see the world in a new light, to find the leaning.
To live life to the fullest, to take the leap,
To find the courage to live, to cherish and keep.So let us embrace the contrast of life,
And trust the journey that’s ahead.

And a life that’s truly led.

The Pulse of the City
The Pulse of the City
The city is a living, breathing being,
Its pulse can be felt in the streets,
In the rush of people, in the sound of traffic,
In the bright lights that never sleep. It’s a place of contrasts, of high and low,
Of wealth and poverty side by side,
Of towering buildings and cramped alleyways,
Of glamour and grittiness intertwined. It’s a place of opportunity, where dreams come true,
But also of struggle, where life can be tough,
Where people work hard, day and night,
To make a living, to make enough. The city is a tapestry, woven with many threads,
Of different colors, textures, and styles,
Of people from all walks of life,
With their own stories, their own trials. The pulse of the city is relentless,
It never slows down or stops,
But within its rhythm, there is beauty,
In the way it connects and unlocks. For in the heart of the city, lies community,
A sense of belonging, a feeling of home,
A place where people can come together,
To laugh, to love, to not feel alone. So let us embrace the pulse of the city,
And all that it has to offer,
For within its bustling energy,
We can find a life that’s richer.

Shadows and Light
Shadows and Light
Shadows and Light, they dance and play,
In a never-ending game each day.
They other, to and fro,
In a dance that’s ancient, yet still aglow.Shadows creep along the ground,
As Light beams from above are found.
Together they create a scene,
Of beauty and wonder that’s evergreen.Shadows and Light, a perfect pair,
Each one needs the other there.
For without the darkness, there’s no contrast,
And without the Light, there’s no brightness to last.In the morning, Light shines bright,
As Shadows fade into the sight.
And as the night begins to fall,
Shadows grow tall, standing proud and tall.In every corner, in every space,
Shadows and Light leave their trace.
They paint a picture with every move,
A masterpiece that’s hard to prove. For Shadows and Light, they are a mystery,
A reminder of life’s complexity.
And as we watch them dance and play,
We’re reminded of the beauty that’s here to stay.So let the Shadows and Light continue to dance,
A never-ending game of chance.
For in this dance, we find our way,
To a world of beauty, every day.© VishalDutia
